Twilight Princess Game Review

The most sombre and dark of the Nintendo 3D Zelda games, Twilight Princess pushes the limits of graphics to the limit on the Wii's hardware. It's darker and more unsettling than The Wind Waker. There aren't any bug-eyed pigs nor effeminate Pirates.

Link is drawn to a different dimension known as Twilight Realm where he takes the form of a Hylian wolf and a Hylian while being guided by Midna.

Gameplay

Twilight Princess is the thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. It was released in 2006 for the Nintendo GameCube system and Wii. The game was praised by critics, and received perfect scores from several publications including 1UP, CVG, EGM and GamesRadar. It is regarded by many as one of the top games in the entire series, and it was the top-selling Zelda game on the PAL market.

Twilight princess has naturalistic and stylized graphics style, like that of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask but with a more advanced graphical engine. Twilight princess is the first game in the series to have a fully directional movement control scheme, rather than having a fixed perspective like previous games. This modification was made to make room for the Wii console, which features an interface based on pointing. The GameCube version has a section at the back of the game with mirror-image maps, which are for those who prefer a fixed view.

When entering the Twilight Realm, Link is transformed into a wolf and comes across Midna, a mysterious creature. She reveals to Link that the kingdom of Hyrule is now under the control of a group of shadow beasts led the evil sorcerer Zant. She also reveals that she is the real ruler of Twili but was usurped by Zant and cursed to her current form.

When Link and Midna arrive at Hyrule Castle, a short cut scene shows the soldiers there being killed by the shadow beasts. Then, Link and Midna escape from the castle through an escape tunnel and enter the Twilight Realm.

Link can move more freely around the world in the Twilight Realm by using his Wolf form. Link can also make use of his senses to navigate around the world. He can hear the ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. He can also whistle and pull grass from certain patches to summon an animal like the Hawk, Epona or other. Or, Link can howl near these patches to summon the same animal.

Like earlier Zelda games music plays a significant role in Twilight Princess. Link can play instruments that are musical like the flute or the harp, to draw and call on different animals. He can also command the wolf's form using his voice. Additionally, he can use his compass to guide him through the world and keep him from getting lost.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda is full of unique and colorful characters that will leave an unforgettable impression. From hands coming out of toilets to pirates traveling across vast oceans these quirky and creative personalities are the core of the game. Twilight Princess continues in the tradition of previous games, and introduces numerous memorable characters.

Link is introduced to new NPCs throughout the story who are not only interesting, but also credible. It's a huge step in the right direction that many of these NPCs actually play a role in the story rather than simply being there as victims. NPCs like Rusl who states that the forest is more risky now and kidnaps children as well as the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf when the children are being kidnapped all have unique personalities.

Other notable characters include Iza who runs the Boat Rental Cabin and Iza's Rapid Ride in the Lanayru Province, Louise, Telma's cat, who assists Wolf Link locate a secret passageway through her bar as well as sewer system into the castle and Faron who's spirit helps guide Link and Midna to the Forest Temple in the Eldin Province. The two team members defeat Diababa's Fused Shadow and obtains the first Tear of Light.

Midna is the Princess Starlight Slot Demo of the Twilight Realm and one of the most intriguing characters in the game. She can switch between her wolf and human forms and is a part of the Triforce of Wisdom. She shares with Link about her experiences at the twilight and how she defeated Zant the King of Twilight.

Zant is the evil sorcerer who controls the Twilight Realm. He possesses the second part of the Triforce of Wisdom. The goddesses relegated him to the Twilight Realm for enslaving their people and enslaving their territory. Zant's magic keeps him permanently in wolf form, but Midna removes the power and allows him to change into his human form whenever required.

Epona is a better horse that can be riding in both the wolf and Hylian forms. Link can whistle near certain patches of grass to summon the animal (similar to Majora's Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series where the player can name their horse.

Theme

Music is a crucial element of any Zelda game. It can make a game feel massive as well as expansive and thrilling. However, Twilight Princess is criticized for having an inconsistent and inconsistent soundtrack that fails to convey the emotional impact of certain moments. Contrastingly, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are enthralling soundtracks that explode at precisely the right time to create a sense of grandness and eerie.

Toru Minegishi and Asuka Ohta were the composers for the sound design and music in Twilight Princess, with Koji Kondo managing the composers of the series for the first time since Wind Waker. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a bold departure from the standard approach to the franchise, with a minimalist approach to music and arrangement. The majority of music from dungeons and fields starts with a single instrumental that creates a mystical and eerie atmosphere for the player. Midna's Lament, for instance utilizes a simple keyboard to create a feeling of sadness for the player.

Dungeon themes are among the most prominent examples of this trend towards minimalism, with many Dungeons displaying a dark and dark atmosphere. This is evident in Twilight Realm, which has an dark soundscape that could be found on a David Lynch movie. The absence of melody and the classic arrangement of this track emphasizes its dark, eerie nature. Drones and bizarre patterns collide to create a dark, eerie texture.

Link's hometown song, "Faron Woods," is a more energetic and joyful song. The song makes use of a variety of strings and soft sounds to create a peaceful and secure experience for the player. The song also has an enigmatic reference to the franchise's most well-known scene, as it features the riff which is similar to the iconic tune that plays at the start of Ocarina of Time.

There are also some dynamic songs in Twilight Princess that change depending on where the player is in the game, what they're doing, and the events that are taking place. Hyrule Castle Town has different versions of the theme for each part of the town. Central Square, for instance, features an edgier version. These variations are a great addition that can help to create an atmosphere of depth and immersion to the world of Hyrule.

Story

Link's goal in Twilight Princess is to save Hyrule from the corrupted parallel universe known as the Twilight Realm. To achieve this, Link takes on the forms of the Hylian or as well as a Wolf and is aided by a woman called Midna.

Midna was the first ruler of Twili but she was usurped and cursed by Zant to transform into her imp form. Link and Midna are informed by the Sages of the Old Testament that only defeating Ganondorf will be capable of releasing them from their curse. The Sages reveal that the Mirror of Twilight causes the darkness to dwell in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link journey to the Spirit's Spring where they encounter dangerous creatures that kidnap children. Wolf Link's keen ear assists them in tracking the children's scent to a nearby bridge, and then cross over into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple, battle Diababa and get the first Fused Shadow. After this, Faron informs them that the next stop is Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN).

The spirit of the recently deceased Zora Queen, Rutela, then appears and informs Link that he must go to the Lakebed Temple in order to gain access to a treasure from the Zora.

Returning from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask The horse Epona is able to be used in Twilight starlight princess 1000x. Link can select the name of the horse, in contrast to the predetermined names used in previous games.

Upon arriving in the Twilight Realm, Midna and Link recover the remaining Mirror Shards. At the Palace of Twilight, the Sages declare that Midna is actually the real ruler of the Twili however she had been passed over for the monarchy and turned to an idol to obtain power. The Sages also tell them that the only way to defeat Ganondorf is to bring him back to the light and break the alliance between the Twilight and Hyrule kingdoms.
